Women in Revolutionary Russia
Cathy Porter, Cambridge University Press, 1987. Paperback.

This is about women active in the revolutionary movement, notably in the Bolshevik party. It's a thorough look, starting with a descriptive outline of women's place before the revolution, astounding changes during the revolution's early period, and the weakening of women's gains during the 1920s and 30s.
It's manageable size, map, key dates, glossary and page of good questions about the material make this a highly recommended resource.
