A History of Their Own: Women in Europe from Prehistory to the Present
Volumes I and II
Bonnie S. Anderson and Judith Zinsser, Harper & Row, 1988

These two ground breaking volumes offer a thorough swept of the history of European women from prehistory to the present. Choices were made, for example not to attempt a survey of all women in all nations in all eras. Examples: England was selected for a discussion of industrialization and France for revolution. The lives of ordinary women are stressed, although familiar heroines also appear. Both paperback. Volume II begins with the Renaissance.
