European Feminisms 1700-1950: A Political History
Karen Offen, Stanford University Press, © 2000.

This new, important work makes visible the long and enduring tradition of European feminism. Moving from the entrance of the "women question" into Enlightenment discourse to the 20th century globalization of European feminist activity, it forces us to reconsider and radically reshape our understanding of Europe's political history. Of great help is its definition of the words "feminism" and "feminist," and its inclusion of feminist expression and contributions in countries and cultures of the whole Eurasian continent.
